Unmo (ウンも Unmo) is one of the villagers of Ishigami Village.

Appearance[]

Unmo is a bald, overweight man with sideburns and three tiger-stripe tattoos on his scalp that connect in the back. He wears the village rope around both his neck and his waist, the latter holding up his blue skirt like a belt. He also has large hoop earrings.

Personality[]

Unmo is jovial and ready to celebrate at all times, similarly to Ganen and Genbu. He is usually found near Ganen and the alcohol containers.[2]

Abilities and Skills[]

  • Drumming: Unmo is shown playing the drums during the village games. [3]
  • Fighting: Like most of the Ishigami village men, Unmo can fight using a small round shield and an axe.[4]

Synopsis[]

During the Grand Bout, Unmo is shown beating the drums on a raised platform. He is later shown reacting with concern along with everyone else at the concept of Ginro's sleazy plans for when he's a Village Chief.[5]

At the later celebrations when the bout is over, Unmo and Ganen are shown working together to ensure everyone is having a good time and their bowls are filled with alcohol. Unmo in particular notices when Senku disappears with Ruri to discuss the final tale from the 100 Tales.[6]

Ganen[]

Unmo is frequently found standing near Ganen. They seem to share a love of food and alcohol as they both gravitated towards the alcohol containers and are later shown working the furnace together (which was usually considered the payment for eating the ramen).[7]

Trivia[]

  • Unmo is named after mica, a mineral that forms in sheets and is used in paints and electronics for its particular properties.
  • Unmo is the only villager who wears earrings.
  • Unmo and Ibara seem to have similar tattoos on their scalps and running down their spines. They appear to be the only two characters with tattoos like these.
