History

Since Suika had the blurry eye disease (nearsightedness), she constantly scrunched up her face in an attempt to see things. This ended up scaring people, so she started to wear her trademark melon helmet.

Synopsis

Kingdom of Science Arc

She makes her first appearance emerging from a river and offering to help Senku collect iron. She is very grateful for Senku not mentioning the reason she wears her signature melon helmet and being nice to her. Having collected enough iron sand, Suika assists in trying to melt it along with the group, albeit to no avail. As Senku explains that in order to get more villagers on his side, he will need intel on their likes and personality. Suika volunteers to spy on them in order to gather information, hiding herself in the melon helmet, much to everyone's surprise.[1]

Suika begins her surveillance over the village and oversees that most of the villagers are suspecting the leader is trying not to escalate the situation since Senku has so far stayed in Chrome's warehouse. Suika then snuck around and was asking villagers if there is anything they currently want or need. She informs Senku that Garnet, Sapphire and Ruby want boyfriends, something that cannot be achieved by Senku's science. Suika then mentions that the village's glutton, Ganet, wants a new type of food, as he is sick of eating grilled fish constantly. Happy that he found his inner man, Senku elaborates that through science, they will make a delicacy for the villagers. Together, they filter out the the green foxtail and grind it with different ingredients to make ramen. The villagers notice the enticing smell, as Senku reveals his plan of alluring the villagers to his side through bribe with food.[2]

With the introduction of Gen Asagiri, once he mentions scaling whether to join Senku or Tsukasa while also noting that with Tsukasa he could have a harem, Suika asks Gen what harem means. A flustered Gen tells her she's better off not yet knowing.[3]

Confused, Suika wonders whether Gen is a bad guy due to being sided with Tsukasa. Senku responds with saying Gen is neither a good nor a bad guy, while Kohaku calls him a pure opportunist. The former tells the group they need to incorporate him into Kingdom of Science anyway, since they need him to lie to Tsukasa about Senku's status.[4]

Suika comes rushing to Chrome's cottage with news. She lets Senku, Kohaku and Chrome know that it was Magma who planned to eliminate "the sorcerer" of the village and instead attacked Gen. The group figures out that Magma probably thought Gen was the sorcerer as he showed the villagers the flower trick. She also tells them Magma planned to kill Kohaku although she left no openings for him to do so. Magma concludes that Kohaku isn't much of a threat without the sorcerer with her, and says he could take her in to become his woman if she begs for mercy.[5]

Along the way, Senku says the group will need glass in order to concoct an antibiotic for Ruri. He then suddenly pulls Suika's helmet of, claiming she won't need it anymore once they find adequate glass for her. Everyone is surprised by how cute Suika is, only for her to make painful grimaces quickly after her helmet is removed. She claims her eyes have the "blurry disease" - she is only able to see blurry images and is ashamed of her constant grimacing in order to see better, however her vision gets improved once she puts her helmet with two holes on. Senku explains that this is a pinhole effect - focusing the amount of light on an iris to make the image sharper. He then goes on to explain science can make her see well.

Suika being fascinated with that the advanced civilization could do, emotionally states that she wants to see people around her clearly for the first time in her life. Willing to aid Senku in his endeavor. Once the lens are complete, Senku fits them into Suika's helmet, Suika being able to see normally for the first time in her life. She cries in happiness and tells Senku and Chrome they look a lot cooler than she thought, with a frustrated Chrome asking what exactly her expectations were and a devious Senku celebrating a new worker in the "labor force".[6]

Suika is present when Chrome and Senku provoke Kaseki into helping them mold glass. The group eventually finishes the science lab.[7]

Village Games Arc

When Senku makes a supplement drink for his warriors in the village tournament, Suika offers to help gather more as Ginro drinks the entire stock. She is then tied up by Mantle who claims to the group that she is drowning in the river, having accidentally fallen when collecting herbs for the drink.[8]

Suika successfully frees herself of Mantle's ropes and arrives to the village fight. She notices Kinro's grimaces during the fight with Magma as the latter makes distance between them and so gives her mask to Kinro in order for him to be able to see better[9], but in the end, he gets beaten. As Kohaku almost arrives to the village, Magma orders his lackey to surrender so that the next match automatically puts Kohaku out of the competition as she isn't present. Suika fervently apologizes to Kohaku for being captured by Mantle, only to be hugged by the latter who says that all she cares about is that Mantle was lying and Suika is well.[10]

Once the match between Ginro and Argo is over, Suika comments on Ginro's fainted state. Eventually, as Chrome engages Magma, Suika prays for Chrome's persistent training to pay off. With Chrome being overwhelmed by Magma's hits, Suika cries seeing how Chrome is desperately trying to protect her helmet from breaking more than it already has.[11] Senku then uses the mask as a fulcrum for his stick and with it, he beats Ginro during the Village Games.[12]

Once Ruri's condition worsens after taking the sulfa drug, Suika runs to warn the Kingdom of Science of the predicament. As Kokuyo gets mistrusting of the drug, Kohaku blocks his attack on Senku and states she believes in science and in Senku as well. Suika, along with the rest, agrees with Kohaku, prompting Kokuyo to release Senku and let him treat Ruri.[13]

Vs. Hyoga Arc

At Senku's orders, she delivers a small blade to Gen for him to sabotage Hyoga's spear.[14] She then allows herself to serve as a distraction to save her fellow villagers from Hyoga's men. She leads them to the hydro acid fields. Suika is saved by Kohaku and Senku, who takes credit for creating the gas to intimidate the enemy into backing off. She returns with them to the village where Kokuyo congratulates her while Kaseki scolds her recklessness. [15]

Communications Arc

Once the cotton candy machine is crafted as a part of the cellphone making process, Suika enjoys the taste of the sweet along with the rest of the villagers.[16]

After a grinding, slow progress in making the vacuum tube, Suika is the one who finds the proper material replacement for the lightbulb filament - that being tungsten; innocently wanting to help the Kingdom of Science by sharing a stone out of her huge collection. Once the village assembles to watch the sunrise of a new year, the stone glows in her hand, with her being captivated by its beauty like the rest of the group.[17] Once cave exploring has been finished, Suika works with the rest of the village to hand Senku a present for his birthday, an observatory.[18] Suika is delighted to use the telescope herself, although Senku warns her not to look at the sun. Later on, she helps melt less resistant metals in the process of making a tungsten filament, along with Chrome.[19] Suika and the rest of the children team gladly help Senku in making the gold wire for the cellphone. The team is aided further by the invention of a stove to help them against the harshness of a cold.[20]

She is later seen when Senku creates the record player and plays the record his father left, being amazed to hear the village founder. Suika finds herself in awe at Lillian's song, finding it beautiful.

Suika is scared to see Homura and is shocked by her knowing the names of her and everyone else in the village. Kaseki tells her it was because she was spying on them for months.[21]

Age of Exploration Arc

When Ryusui invents his own currency, she opens up a ramen shop. She makes good friend out of Mirai Shishio who sells cotton candy with her. After Ukyo reports how the geographic layout has changed, Suika comments that if only they could fly to see the land. Her comment gives Senku an idea and he anounces plans to create a hot air balloon.[22]

When Senku reveals the balloon will fly, Suika realizes that the thought of flying is real. When cloth is needed, Suika takes part in folding it. After Yuzuriha uses leftover cloth to create a clothing store, Suika is used as a model and wears a modern dress. [23]

She is surprised when Chrome appears, since he wants to ride in the balloon. She is amazed he actually picked the card to allow him to fly with Senku and Ryusui. After the balloon is completed she oversees it flying in the air being really amazed that they are almost out of sight.[24]

She is amazed by Taiju making the perfect wheat field after being labeled the farm king.[25]

She and Sagara find the oil fields. Suika begs Francois and Senku to spare Sagara and they slyly allow her to keep the hog as a pet, to her joy.[26]

Suika is later disturbed to hear there is a mystery person who contacted them, as Kohaku assured the Five Wise Generals are there to figure it out. [27]

Treasure Island Arc

Suika stowed on the Perseus but was discovered when they got there. Suika has to do work to earn her keep on the trip.

When Kirisame threw the Petrification Weapon, Ryusui saved Suika by kicking her off the ship, telling her to notify Senku. Because of this, she is spared from petrification but dismayed by the fate of her friends.[28]

Perseus Hallway

Suika avoiding detection.

She hides out, as Ibara and his group search the ship. She breaks glass to draw the enemy away from her escape and catches sight of Ginro (who also survived the attack), recalling she previously heard Kohaku shouting for the lab. Her act distracted the enemy long enough for him to help her retrieve the mobile lab and meet up with their allies. To avoid further suspicion, Senku created a poop smell to disguise the lab as an animal.[29] [30]

She and the others hide out in a cave, where they make a replacement lab. She is surprised by Kohaku receiving a makeover but comments on how pretty she looked after Amaryllis took over. [31]

Later on, she is ecstatic to see Ryusui revived and is congratulated by him with him declaring her to be an true warrior for the kingdom of science.[32]

She helps in the creation of the oxygen tanks after several hours they are complete. Despite the concerns about the few minutes, she is happy that Soyuz and Ryusui have to save their friends they are ultimately successful with help from Taiju.[33][34]

Suika and the others soon note on how the petrified Kaseki has a missing piece. Suika is startled when Taiju comes back with statues and broken pieces. His stamina and plan to make more trips causes her to question his capabilities. [35]

She witnesses Gen bargaining with Moz, congratulating the mentalist when he is successful.[36]

She assists in the reconstruction of the statue of the great leader only to be petrified along with everyone else except Senku when Ibara petrifies the entire island.

Once Ibara is defeated, she is revived and joins in the celebration. Suika is shocked to hear the Why-man trying to voice a command to petrify the whole Earth with a specific command. She is speechless to hear from Ukyo that the new foe has the same voice as Senku.[37]

New America City Arc

Suika is still scared about the Why-man, wondering if this meant he was really Senku but Chrome points out to her that the real Senku was with them. She later witnesses the revival of an unknown man, who they see has a symbol of the device on his arm. Suika noted on how he was revived before she is shocked when he tells them of other weapons that once fell from the sky. [38]

She helps her allies with reviving others on the island, aiding the children who were petrified by reviving them. She later departs with the others back to the main land.[39]

After Tsukasa is revived, Suika asks Senku if he will continue to scars in his face because the device won't function anymore before this rallies the modern timers to recreate their scars. [40]

After establishing that the Why-man is on the moon and that the crew of the Perseus needs to travel around the world to collect items to build a space shuttle, Suika is allowed to come along as a reward for her help during the treasure Island arc.

Once the Perseus sets sail for America, she witness Senku and Ryusui's poker match, being on team Ryusui, despite not knowing much about what is going on.

After the poker match and witnessing Francois mix a cocktail for her, Suika becomes worried due to the cocktail possibly containing alcohol, however, Francios reassures her that it is a non-alcoholic cocktail, made to taste like a caplico soft drink. She becomes delighted by the personal drink that is made for her.[41]

Suika continues the celebration and watches Matsukaze faint after one sip from his drink. She is happy when he wakes up.[42]

She later gives Chrome the idea of finding of gem capable of detecting the sun like in the days of Vikings and assists him in locating it. Once the Perseus enters the waters closer to America, she along with other stone world members of the crew becomes amazed by creatures such as whales and structures like icebergs. After the Perseus reaches America she is she celebrating on the edge of the ship, along with the rest of the crew.[43]

Once on the shore she is part of the team responsible for scouting out corn and enjoys a burger for the first time after Francois successful cooks the alligators that the power team defeated. [44]

She is later shocked to hear that she was chosen as part of a exhibition team in combating Dr. Xeno alongside Hyoga, Tsukasa and Ukyo. [45]

After successfully capturing Dr. Xeno, she, along with the rest of Senku and her group escape from Corn city on Dr. Xeno's yacht. During this time, she questions leaving their friends behind in corn city and is quite sad about this, but eventually realizes that they need to move onto South America. [46]

South America Arc

Later on, onboard Xeno's Yacht, she is scared when Gen lists the dangers they would face because of Stanley chasing them.[47]

Senku tells everyone of the amount of dangerous creatures that await them in the amazon. After traveling on Xeno's Yacht and making a pit stop, she tries quickly to gather wood, kn Policies & Guidelines owing that Stanley is on their tail. After discovering Dr. Chelsea, she is shocked to find that she has the same fuzzy eye sickness like her. Upon Dr. Chelsea hearing Suika's voice, she charges at her, with Suika dodging out of the way causing Chelsea to go face first into the ground. [48]

After getting to know Dr. Chelsea and seeing how blunt she is with Xeno, Suika shows signs of jealousy of how her and Chelsea are opposites in terms of personality. Once she realizes that the yacht would take days to collect rubber, she becomes worried knowing that if they sit around, Stanley will be on top of them.[49]

She is saddened when they have to say goodbye to the mobile science lab. However, after stopping to retrieve some rubber, she is happy to find out that in order to get the rubber, it requires her to do something that she is familiar with from when she was living in Ishigami Village.[50]

Once they reach Ecuador, she becomes worried about the destruction of the yacht before being informed by Senku that they will not be travelling by Sea anymore. A few days later, she is keeping watch on top of the remains of the yacht and becomes worried when she notices Stanley's forces approaching. After informing the others, she boards one of the motorcycles with Kohaku and Ukyo.

After avoiding Stanley and making their way to the Andes, Suika travels along a ropeway with Max and Carlos in order to reach the Amazon rainforest. However, a gust a wind causes Suika to fall of the ropeway prompting her to hide in her helmet and Kohaku to save her, the later of which is then saved by Hyoga. After successfully crossing the Andes, she looks on in amazement at the vast amount of rain forest.

After venturing into the rain forest she becomes scared when Senku reminds her of the dangerous creatures in the forest. Never the less, Senku creates rubber boots for them all to wear to combat this. After helping in the scavenging for food she is amazed by Xeno when he creates a bug repellent for the mosquitoes. Sometime later after using rafts to cross the river, she finds a medusa floating in the water before realizing that she, along with the others, are standing in front of a pyramid of the petrification weapons.[51] After witnessing Taiju trying to petrify himself, she is more then eager to join in before questioning if there is any point of using useless petrification weapons, only to be informed of a second option. She later joins in with the celebration of the stealth ship before the group sails off down the river.[52] After arriving in Araxa she is confused somewhat by the amount of years it took for humanity to gather up minerals before beginning to help build up super alloy city and prepare for the battle against Stanley, as well as learning of the plan to petrify everyone. [53]

Suika saves Charlottes life

Suika save Charlotte.

Suika and Francois are chosen to be the ones to revive the others. The two soon transverse the jungle for a safe position before witnessing the arrival of Stanley and his unit. The two also spot Ginro and Matsukaze as their prisoners. Remaining hidden, the two witness Charlotte being bit on the neck by a spider. Suika watches Charlotte collapse on the ground because of the venom spreading in her system. Feeling compassion, Suika emerges from hiding while snatching and placing the nitroglycerine-soaked swab onto the bite, saving Charlotte. Regaining consciousness, Charlotte thanks the young girl. However, the rest of the group are alerted of this and spot Suika standing over Charlotte.[54] After not understanding the meaning of the word freeze, Suika does her best to avoid Stanley's forces only to be cornered and nearly killed on sight. However, Francois says that Suika is a doctor who was helping Charlotte and convinces Stanley that they are not fighters before being taken hostage. After feeling as though she has failed, Francois informs her that this may be all part of the ongoing plan.

Leonard guarding the hostages

Suika witnesses the Petrification light

Suika is chosen as the one to revive everyone after the device is activated as she's skilled at hiding and it'll supposedly safer. Francois joins Suika to ensure see has a supply of food and fresh water. Together, they travel along the river to see if Stanley's men have found them yet. Sure enough, three canoes full of camouflaged troops disembark on the shores near where Francois and Suika are hidden. Ginro and Matsukaze are with them as hostages. Suika wants to warn the others at Fort Medusa that they're coming, however Francois says wireless communication is a last resort.

Above them, a spider appears and is repulsed by the army ant spray Francois and Suika are wearing. It scuttles away off a leaf and straight onto Charlotte, who is bitten on the neck and falls to the floor. Francois and Suika witness this and, thanks to Senku, know how to potentially save her. Francois hesitates, as helping Charlotte would give away their location, ruining the whole plan. New Stone World Arc

Suika feasts

Suika surviving in Brazil

Three years have passed, since the second world wide petrification event. After many disturbances to the plate the revival fluid was sitting on, finally shatters, raining down onto a petrified Suika, who awakens. After a moment of glee, she soon discovers she has awoken alone. She begins to fall into despair, until she remembers Senku Ishigami too awoke alone. Suika sets out on a mission to locate everyone's statues in hopes of finding spare revival fluid. Suika finds food, clothing and shelter and declares to nearby monkeys, 'Suika is a human!'[57] Suika slowly locates the statues of her friends, and constructs her own 'motor cycle' to transport the statues the long distances. After finding everyone nearby, she still wasn't able to find Luna and Chelsea. She sets out on a longer journey packed with food to find them. Suika soon discovers the broken bottle of revival fluid Luna threw and finds the two, however they too did not have revival fluid. Suika believes she will die alone here, but does not cry nor give up. Suika uses the knowledge all her friends have given her to continue to survive alone. She eventually discovers the paper Senku has was actually the revival fluid recipe. Suika is going to do her own science![58]

Suika 7 years later

An older Suika revives Senku.

Having learned to read from Ukyo during the year that Ishigami village was building the ship, Suika realizes that this still leaves her with little understanding of the science behind Senku's instructions. Of the three methods he left her, Suika initially forgoes the third as the longest process. After realizing that the first two are beyond her level, however, she concedes to use the third, which requires both a year and a lot of animal feces. Harvesting bird guano from a nearby island and experimenting it, she resolves to keep trying even if different years' batches don't work. Eventually, several years after reviving, Suika masters the formula and awakens Senku. Senku states it was seven years after the petrification, as Suika notes he might not recognize her but is surprised when he does and praises her for having worked faster than he expected. Overjoyed at the reunion, Suika tearfully embraces Senku who states that the seven year wait was nothing.[59]

After the hug, Suika explains to him on how she only made enough formula to revive him, to which he responds that there is another method to make the Revival Fluid quicker. Suika is in awe when Senku is able to make some more nitric acid in just a day thanks to the Ostwald process, commenting on how it took her years, while calling Senku amazing. Nevertheless, he still congratulates Suika on being able to revive him. Sixteen days later, the pair make sixteen doses of revival fluid for their allies, the first of which goes to Kohaku. Seeing her, Suika states that she and Kohaku are about the same age, before they share a hug. Suika then watches the revival of everyone else and is pleased by the sight of their happiness. She joins her allies in celebrating their revival that night. [60]

Suika later expresses amazement with Xeno creating an air conditioner, commenting because of her years with experimenting that she is interested in inventing. She soon states that electricity doesn't pass through gases after Xeno explains the process but he soon creates the Geiger counter. Several days pass with a factory being created, she is soon worried after Xeno states chrome was needed to be dumped in ore to make Superalloy, with her thinking it was her friend but was told it was the minerals. After countless days, Superalloy City was established once several people were revived.[61]

When Chelsea brought up the fuel for the new Perseus, Suika was excited when Senku said it would run on future energy but she and Kohaku are dismayed that he used biofuel, which is poop again. After a half a year, the ship is functional, it was decided that the group would have to split into three teams if they want to succeed in reviving the whole world. Suika is placed with the group that travel the world while collecting materials: Senku, Chrome, Kohaku, Ryusui, Francois, Kaseki, Gen and Chelsea. She and the others are amazed by the speed of the new Perseus, before she asks Chrome why he was crying and he explains he doesn't know . [62]
