Kirisame (キリサメ ) is one of the two strongest warriors in the Petrification Kingdom, the other being Mozu. She is now a member of the Kingdom of Science, replacing Soyuz after he stayed behind at the end of the Treasure Island Arc.
Appearance
Kirisame is a slender young woman comparable to Kohaku in height, with black dreads with caps at the tips, and stone ornaments in her hair. She has narrow, green-colored eyes and is usually expressionless. She has facial markings of unknown origin that extend from the top of her eyebrows in a curl, similar to Mozu’s.
She wears a loose, (as revealed in the chapter 150 color page) see-through dress. Kirasame maintains her modesty though bulbous ornaments that cover her chest area and a dark design that covers the front of her lower half. She also wears necklace that covers most of her neck made of stone.
Personality
Kirisame is a cold, collected individual who, unlike her colleague Mozu, appears more professional, rarely smiling or relaxing, coming off as unflappable.
However, she occasionally shows cracks in this personality, for example, towards romance. When Kohaku kissed Senku under the pretense that he was her boyfriend, Kirisame was incredibly flustered. She also blushed at being hinted to have an attraction to Kinro.
Kirisame is loyal to the head of Treasure Island, unknowingly committing evil in his name due to Ibara's wicked manipulations. After learning she had been duped into unjustly petrifying the islanders for years, Kirisame was angered.
Since accepting Soyuz as the leader of Treasure Island, Kirisame has noticeably mellowed out. She joins the Kingdom of Science on his request, following Senku's orders.
Abilities and Skills
Physical Abilities
Kirisame is strong and fast enough to overwhelm Kohaku in combat. Mozu vouches for her skill, as he notes that she can't be taken lightly, making her a threatening adversary. However, it should be noted that Kohaku was restrained by her dress and couldn’t fight well. In their recent sparring match, Kohaku proved to be an equal to Kirisame.[3]
Kirasame has "one helluva throwing arm", according to Senku.
She could hunt and kill large American Alligators with help from the others.[4]
Equipment
Kirisame wields the mysterious Petrification Weapon and uses it under the command of Ibara. She keeps it inside a pocket on her chest, when not in use. When fighting Kohaku after her revival, she uses two handheld versions of the club-like weapon Mozu uses.
Stats
History
When Kirisame was a child, she spoke to the head of the Petrification Kingdom, and he told her that the range of the Petrification Weapon must never be abused.
5 years before the present, Kirisame and Mozu confronted a group of teenagers attempting to leave Treasure Island. After expressing disinterest in Mozu’s perverted thoughts, she activated the Petrification Weapon and petrified all of the teenagers, with the exception of a young Amaryllis.
Synopsis
Treasure Island Arc
She is petrified by Ibara after learning of the Head's true state.
After the battle, concerns are made about her statue before Senku revives her. Once she is revived, she is updated on the situation and notes there must be a reason he chose to revive her. Senku asks her about Kohaku and Ginro, with her telling him where the statues are and watches them revive. Kirisame blushes after watching Kohaku hug Senku.[3]
New America City Arc
She and the other islanders bow to Soyuz after he is revealed to be the son of their ruler.
During a training session with Kohaku, she questions the latter if she was holding back after being in awe at her true skill. Kohaku explained she was limited by the dress. Their display of strength scares Ginro who runs away, to their shock. The pair chase him, before he is rescued however, he is saved by a newly revived warrior who joins the Kingdom of Science.[5]
Kirisame takes Soyuz's place aboard the Perseus, becoming a member of the Power Team for the Kingdom of Science.[6]
Kirisame then travels with the Kingdom of Science to America.
When interviewed by Minami Hokutozai on her thoughts of the journey, she replies that she has been given the command to aid them and won't fail. Minami notes on her stoic behavior, before she notes that she is similar to Kinro and asks for comments. Kirisame is particularly flustered and blushed at this statement, while denying it.[7]
She takes part in their festivities in the bar.
She later participates in the weapons training with Tsukasa, Matsukaze and the revived warriors.[8]
When the Perseus arrives in San Francisco, she is happy to be on land and looks forward to hunting. Very soon, the warrior team follows the exploration crew. Soon alligators attack, though Kirisame and the other warriors defeat them and use the Alligator meat to restock on supplies. Kirisame is exceptionally pleased with the hamburgers that Francois made from them. [9]
During the escape on the river, the group saw they were being chased by an aircraft. Senku quickly combines water and calcium carbide to form acetylene gas, which he gives to Kirisame. Using Taiju as balance, Kirisame throws it at the plane, knocking the engine down and making the plane crash. The Kingdom of Science finds the aircraft downed, which at the mutual behest of Ryusui and Senku is procured. [10]
Relationships
Kohaku
They met formally with Kohaku making it look like Senku was her lover and kissing him to prove it. When they fought Kirisame looked down on Kohaku for not being able to fight, since she was restrained by her dress and couldn’t fight well. After Ibara was defeated, the two had a sparring match, with Kohaku proving to be an equal Kirisame. The surprised Kirisame had to acknowledge the impressive skill of Kohaku.
Kinro
No interaction has been seen, though she was responsible for petrifying him and his allies on Ibara's orders. After her induction into the Kingdom of Science, Minami Hokutozai has taken notice of their similar serious attitudes. Kirisame blushed at being hinted to have an attraction to Kinro, while denying it.[7]
