Science Vessel Perseus (科学 (せん) ペルセウス (ぺるせうす) Kagakusen Peruseusu) is the fortieth episode of the Dr. Stone anime, and the fifth episode of the third season.

Summary[]

Thanks to Chrome's discovery, the Kingdom of Science has acquired a mine and founded its distribution network of iron and oil needed for minecarts, paved asphalt roads, and all the necessary routes required for the ship's roadmap. But the motorized sailboat project itself turns out more technically difficult than expected, forcing Senku to change plans before Ryusui steps in and proposes a revision to the blueprints. The shipbuilding project soon reaches its climax!

Plot Details[]

Even with Kaseki's skills, the ship proves impossible to assemble accurately. Ryusui recreates a scale model of a ship, allowing Senku to use a Pantograph to accurately copy the ship pieces to the correct size and shape. Ship construction begins running smoothly, but the engine requires Senku's absolute focus during its construction, as a single mistake could cause an explosion. A year later, the ship is finished. As it may be the last time they are all together, Minami insists on a commemorative photograph to mark the launch of the ship Perseus on the 10th of September, 5741 AD. After careful consideration, the Perseus' crew is made up of Ryusui, Senku, Chrome, Kaseki, Yuzuriha, Ukyo, Francois, Kohaku, Magma, Taiju, Nikki, Yo, Gen, and Kinro. As they are too dangerous to leave behind, Senku brings Hyoga and Homura in the ship's brig. Ginro fakes bravery by pretending to swim after the ship, hoping to impress Ruri, but Taiju hauls him aboard, dooming him to join the crew. Before starting the voyage to South America, Senku intends to find the island where his father Byakuya returned to earth with the other astronauts and locate something vital for their mission, the crashed Soyuz rocket.

Anime to Manga Differences[]

  • During Ryusui's flashback, the part where he constructs his own racecourse is altered to have omitted Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha around the area at the same time, doing their rocket project.
  • Extra scenes were added during Minami's journal of the revised project.

Trivia[]

  • The episode was named after Chapter 102 again, but with a literal translation.
  • The opening was shifted as an inserted during the Perseus crew announcement scene.
