Voices from Here to Eternity (
Summary[]
With the radio wave part of the cellphone completed, Senku begins creating the mic. The mic itself is a crystal of Rochelle salt capable of turning sound into electricity, mounted on a plastic horn. With that, the cellphone is complete. Kohaku then asks who is going to hear them, making everyone realize they need to make a second cellphone.
Senku says it's not as bad as it seems, because they can show its capabilities using a landline. Kaseki worries that his vacuum tube wasn't made correctly, while Ginro eggs Chrome on about making the first ever Stone World phone call count. With Ruri on the other end, Chrome tells her that science is awesome, making everyone else facepalm.
The villagers are amazed by the phone, and a few of the younger children exclaim that it's just like a bee. This confuses the modern-timers, and Ruri explains that it's part of one of the 100 Tales. Senku notices that the story doesn't impart any important information, and realizes that Byakuya's gravestone contains a glass record.
They go and collect the record, ready to play it.

- Byakuya left a record for Senku.
Trivia[]
- The cover page shows a Voyager space probe.
- The two probes of the Voyager program launched in 1977 to study the outer solar system. They famously carry each a golden record containing sounds, images and other information about earth and humanity. Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 crossed the heliopause in 2012 and 2018 respectively, becoming the first spacecraft to leave the solar system into interstellar space. Both spacecraft will not pass within a few lighyears of other stars for around 40000 years.
- The microphone is based on a crystal of Rochelle salt, which exhibits a property called piezoelectricity. This means that when the crystal is compressed or bent, it produces an electric field around it, which can produce an electric current when sandwiched between two electrodes.
- Devices such as earphones, microphones and gramophone pickups were initially experimented with at Bell Labs in 1919 and saw some use in the early 20th century, however these devices did not have a long life, as the crystals are hygroscopic. They absorb water from the air and stop working.
