Dawn of Iron (
The group collect iron sand from the nearby riverbed using small magnetized rocks. Kohaku works hard while Senku and Chrome laze around. She soon calls them out on it and forces them to work, though Senku still mentions that it will take them ages to collect enough, and no one from the village would come to help since they are both seen as shady sorcerers.
A while later, a watermelon is spotted floating downstream towards them. Suddenly it lifts from the water revealing a young girl wearing it as a helmet. Her name is Suika, and she's offering to help collect the iron sand. Senku is glad for her help, and Suika immediately likes him for not asking about her helmet.
Suika gets excited and puts all her effort into collecting sand. Chrome watching her float in the river warns her that she's not Momotaro, and not to drown. Senku asks how they know Momotaro, and Chrome explains that it's part of the 100 Tales told by Ruri. Senku establishes that the story of Momotaro that the villagers had been told was different from the one Senku knows, which makes him very curious about Ruri.
Chrome asks what Senku meant by interested in Ruri, and Kohaku takes Senku aside to tell him that Chrome has a crush on her. Senku understands, and ignores Chrome's protests. Later, Senku wants to enter the village to ask Ruri questions, however Kinro blocks him from entering since he's an outsider.
They try to make iron using charcoal and a furnace, however pumping enough oxygen into it to raise the temperature adequately is exhausting. Ginro wants to go see what they're doing by Chrome's hut, but Kinro stops him. Ginro argues that Kinro's simply already been bought with the pretty golden spear.
A while later, everyone's already collapsed from exhaustion. The furnace is opened revealing the sand did not smelt into iron. Senku then decides they'll need more manpower for the iron forge to work, and assigns Suika the task of gathering information.
