Nasty Looks (フッッルイ
Summary[]
Continuing the events of the previous chapter, Kohaku, who's just been freed from under the fallen tree, gets to properly introduce herself to the stranger she just met, but does so in a way that Senku easily misconstrues as a precocious love confession, and criticizes her. She angrily points out that she's just fond enough to cooperate with him.
The two try to sleep through the night next to a campfire; soon enough Senku spots her trying to sleep with her knives firmly grasped in her hands as if ready to fight. Commenting on it, she explains that because of his earlier remark about relationships, he hasn't gained her trust yet. Sleeping while alert, she tells, is an habit she got from having to protect herself throughout her life.
Senku responds stating that he doesn't have the bravery to attack a 'lioness' such as her, and commanding to stop procrastinating on sleeping, which prompts her anger and she rants at his bad manners.
The next morning, Kohaku asks about Tsukasa, whom she doesn't know by name. Senku briefs her on the story they have, and she is eager to help. Senku points out that to build his Kingdom of Science he needs more manpower. To this she responds inviting him to follow her home, after a stop to pick some hot spring water.
Being inquired about the water, she explains that it's for healing purposes, for her sickly older sister.
Observing her carry the jar of water, which he estimates as being around 50 liters worth, Senku points out that it's not enough for a bath; she explains that carrying the jar back and forth multiple times a day makes for very good training. However, she suddenly loses strength and almost drops the water due to not being fully recovered from being squashed under the tree. Senku tries to help none the wiser, and the 50 liter jar proves to be too big of a load for him.
Using the pulleys from earlier, Senku builds a simple two wheeled cart, which they ride downhill, steered from the back with a stick dragging on the ground beneath. Senku lectures his passenger about how science reuses items and knowledge, before crashing, which destroys the cart and sends both of them flying. Kohaku lands safely and elegantly with the water jar, Senku in turn, does about the opposite of this.
Although the vehicle has been destroyed, they made it to their destination. Senku stares in awe at the sight of Ishigami Village, inhabited by at least 40 people plus a number of elders and children as Kohaku stated. This is followed with a two page table showing portraits and names of these villagers.
Senku wonders about the origins of this village as he steps through the bridge leading to the island where most of it is located. He is swiftly faced by guards, Kinro and Ginro, but their attack on him is stopped by Kohaku. Even if he saved her life, no strangers are allowed into the village, they said. The logic being that any and all humans living outside the village are criminals exiled from it. Kohaku thus challenged both of them to fight her two on one, the guards were very reluctant.
Stepping back into this conflict, Senku asks to not be given such nasty looks, as he blows some soap bubbles into the air, which confuses and startles the guards. Observing their ignorance, Senku states aloud that he's gonna take the village for himself; Kohaku does not approve of the nasty expression he has. She then proceeds to explain that before anything else he would have to recruit a person by the name of Chrome, whom she thinks Senku will find highly useful, and who is the most easygoing of them all.

- A photo has been shared online of the storyboard for this chapter, showing a different design for the cart Senku built, having three wheels and being more akin to a wheelbarrow.
- The cover depicts Kohaku's eyes as yellow/brown, even though it was stated that she has blue eyes. This mistake was later fixed with the cover of Chapter 22.
