Epilogue of Prologue (End of Part 0) (
Summary[]
Tsukasa tears off some of his clothes that had caught fire in the explosion, but was perfectly unharmed. He takes a moment to consider this event, and concludes that it was unlike Taiju to try and harm him, so it's no surprise the explosion was harmless to him, all he wanted to do was to escape.
Meanwhile, Taiju and Yuzuriha escape through the woods, with what little of their resouces they could grab, and Senku's body. Taiju refuses to accept that Senku has died and failed on his mission to bring back civilization; though elsewhere, Tsukasa has little doubt about it, since he snapped his cervical plexus, and it'd be very hard to save him even in the modern world.
Taiju makes attempts to revive Senku with a heart massage and then plans to attempt CPR, but is interrupted by Yuzuriha explaining that Tsukasa hit his neck and it's best to not move it much, also telling that Senku sacrificed himself to save her life.
Hearing that Senku sacrificed himself brought Taiju a memory from the old world. A classmate in school was reading a book called "Magic Psychology" by Gen Asagiri, in which a personality quiz had a question asking that in the case of a terrible accident, who would one save, if the options were your best friend, your significant other or yourself?. Yuzuriha said that she'd have a hard time picking between the friend and the boyfriend, Taiju himself complained that there's no good choice, calling it a nasty quiz. Senku however interrupted from where he was doing his chemistry work, stating that he would find his way to save everyone by ingenuity.
Taiju then concludes that somehow Senku must have thought of a way to survive despite his apparent sacrifice. Taiju concentrates, trying to remember a clue, a hint to what Senku might have done. Yuzuriha then realizes something: Senku was quietly drawing attention to his neck, and asking to be executed as fast as possible, led Tsukasa to do it the way he did. Taiju then takes note of how Senku in the stone world suddenly had the habit of popping his neck, which he didn't have before.
They flip Senku over and have a look at where he was hit, spotting a small spot in the back of his neck still petrified, and suddenly, the memory of the stone and its healing effects came back to them. They swiftly pour some of the last remaining revival fluid on Senku's broken neck.
The stone breaks away, and the pair desperately watch in expectation for something to happen.
Deep in the void, Senku's mind awakens having an experience, initially he thought to be a dream, but then realized it to be a memory of the long long time he was petrified, counting every second for thousands of years to keep track of time and seasons, until the moment he broke away into the light of day.
